Its been a few weeks since my solo trip, and so we decided to head for one of our local sites just for the night to make sure that everything was working in the van before our long trip to France in a couple of weeks.
We decided to head for a Caravan Club site near to Brixham – Very handy for Torbay and Dartmouth.
We arrived shortly after noon, and were told to have a look round the site and find a pitch that we fancied. We found a terrific pitch, and were soon set up, with fantastic sea views.
We went for a little tour around the site, and found that this had a few things to offer that are not on every Caravan Club site!
As well as the huge area for children’s activities – complete with a set of goal posts (there is also a playground)
We also found a restaurant and bar – with evening entertainment, and a heated swimming pool
It was fairly breezy, and the pool looked a little chilly, but we decided to brave it! Wow – This must be one of the sites best kept secrets! The pool was lovely and warm, and there was never more than three of us in the pool! – I imagine that it gets quite a lot busier in the summer when the kids are on holiday.
Back to the van, and we had a BBQ before heading to the bar for a quick pint or two in the evening, alongside the free entertainment.
Sunday morning we packed up, and headed to the National Trust Coleton Fishacre site, which is just a few miles away. One of my favourite NT properties, with a lovely 1930’s house and garden backing down to the sea. They have opened up more of the house since our last visit, and so you can now see the kitchen and the servants quarters.
So – a nice little short trip, to unwind.
