This weekend we popped along to the Westcountry Caravan and Motorhome show in Exeter. The show consisted of local dealers with a wide range of mainly used vans on display. We were looking for a few special show deals for the van, and managed to grab a couple of items we were looking for.
We also stopped by the BritStops stand and picked up a few books ready for our touring season.
BritStops is a guide which contains a directory of small businesses (pubs, farm shops etc) who are happy for self contained campervans to stop the night for free. Obviously they are hopeing that you will spend a few of your pennies at their establishment, but there is no obligation to buy anything, all that is asked is that you pop in and say “Hi” when you arrive, and a quick “Cherrio” when you leave. We will certainly be trying out a number of these across Devon and Cornwall, and supporting local businesses as we go.
There is a similar book for across the water “France Passion” and we picked up a copy of this too. We have a trip to France planned this summer, and plan to use a mixture of “Aires”, which are small public stopover locations, and the French Passion sites, which are often to be found at farms and vineyards.
Time to start studying the guides and finding some places to mark for a visit!
